Cleaning your siding is important for keeping up its appearance and getting rid of harmful substances that shorten its lifespan. Gentle cleaning helps wash off stains and keeps your siding looking its best. And it will also protect your home from threats like insects, mold, fungi, and mildew. Here are some steps you can take to keep your siding squeaky clean and beautiful:

  • Every eight to twelve months, do a visual inspection of your siding. Check for signs of damage and potential concerns. If you see any dirt, moss, or mildew, you should clean it as soon as possible.
  • To clean your siding, simply fill a bucket with a mixture of warm water and a gentle cleaner. Use a soft cloth to apply the mixture and remove build up.
  • Never use a pressure washer or abrasive materials to clean your siding.
  • If there are stains leftover from mold or mildew, you can use a combination of water and white vinegar to remove them. You should dilute the mixture so that it is at least three parts water and one part vinegar.
  • Make sure to thoroughly rinse your siding after you’re done applying the solution or cleaner.
